Until the Moon Sends Me Running
The Exploration: Debut For a Fresh Muse
Rain pours, water slapping water
She crashes as she falls
“Only out to the ankles’” I told my mom
Now the ocean greets my shorts
Until the moon sends me running
Sunshine is hot, water is cold
Still I feel no comfort, only loneliness
The way of the world,
Memories flash, striking my body
Just like a lightning bolt
The ocean will not sustain boats today
But she welcomes me with open arms
Until the moon sends me running
I turn to the closed doors up ahead
The trek up the mountains made
Only to be greeted by glass, abandonment
There will come a time when I turn back
But for now I sink to the smooth sand
Cool and soft, perfect, left alone by man
And I will stay where I belong
So long as I remain enveloped in welcomeness
Until the moon sends me running
The ocean is an endless blanket
She rolls over me, under and around
But she never rolls right on through me
Like a hug from the best friend I left behind
Until the moon sends me running.
Thanks for reading; a brand new muse spoke to me for this one and I’d love to know what you thought of her perspective.
With special thanks to Taylor B. for the inspiration.
