By noon of that day
I’d sketched a royal garden’s worth of flowers in my notebook
Prepped for an upcoming test six times over
And fingered my dollar store necklace enough to smell clammy metal
My brain was freshly overflowing by noon of that day
But of course it wasn’t over
So I put my music on
Let the swells in the beat soothe my heart
And waited for it to kick into gear for real.
Thank you as always for taking the time to read a poem about happiness, comfort, and peace. On the opposite end of the spectrum, this is a poem about anger because sometimes emotional release is a good thing. Here is a very quick read with a similar tone as this poem. Please enjoy.
