Oh how awfully sad

I was so certain

I was the one for you

Not the one who got away

But you had to go and

Drive me as far as I can go

Drive your brass-knuckled

Fists of ice and steel and lies

Straight through my gut

You had to rip my heart out

And watch me turn to dust

So now I have to walk away

Hinges ripped from the door

Frames from the wall into the

Fire pit. Can you hear it

Scream my anguish?

Can you see my promises

Floating in the smoke?

Because I see your lies

And your evil works and your

Empty promises in the black water

Rolling down the drain as I run it

Like I want to run all over you

As I take off my makeup

Erase my lipstick and my marriage

Tossing my rings down to Satan

Folding everything else I care about

Into a suitcase and telling myself

I don’t need to know or why

You would do this to me, to us

I just need to leave

And it’s all so terribly sad

That it’s all over now.
