Pretty Eyes

His eyes are on the larger side

Uncommonly pale shade of blue

His face is all angles, sharply cut

And jutting out of his close cropped hair

His blood courses through cold veins

His spirit is cruel, a sneaker on a puppy’s face

One of those little boys resentful of everyone

Who is not just like him- center of the world

If I’m really being honest with myself

I hate how shy I am

Because all my imaginary friends

Are more like acquaintances

Who speak to me because they have to

I know I make people uncomfortable

But if I’m being honest with my mirror

I do have pretty eyes

He is a cliff

With pretty blue eyes

I am a sea

With pretty blue eyes

I wonder how I didn’t see it before

With pretty blue eyes

On the inside he’s just a scared little boy

With pretty blue eyes.
