“A blurry view of Christmas lights on Pismo Beach Pier.” by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash

I was gliding across the ice
You watched me, and you fell down twice.
I saw your magnificence- you abandoned yourself
When we talked my face was on your photo album shelf
But there was no truth in you
And there was nothing to do.
You felt like being reborn
I was a rose with no thorn.

Shielded by “No Shame”

I trusted in your love-

You called me your dove-

And I would’ve done anything

But I can’t love what you bring

For you my light was never dim enough

So you dragged me down, told me “be tough”

You forced my heart and soul into dark places

You transformed my mirrors to lonely faces.

But you wanted to stay friends

You couldn’t stand my “loose ends”.

You felt like home but you’re a minor acquaintance

I’m complex art, purposeful sophistications

Truth is profound sleep, darkness not an Apollo

So wherever you go, I cannot follow

Don’t you understand the changes that befell us

I am The Epitome of ladies, midnight grass

I had opaque illusions when I saw your eyes

They’re almost blue enough to let you hide behind lies

But no more, no mas, no more, no more.

I left you lying on the cold floor.

So how did you come back to me,

Rope me back in from being free?

This time it’s permanent

This time know I mean it.
