The sound of loneliness may just be the worst part of it all.

The smell may swell with sweetness.

The color may be a work of art under the beauty of some eyes.

But the sound of loneliness is hard to enjoy;

It pours itself from a pitcher of terror.

And the sound of loneliness does not enter through ears-

It radiates from deep within the earth, lying with fossilized fish

And pierces a soulful dreamlike state known as peace.

The sound of loneliness is a murderer with claws like a dragon

And a spider’s web at her immediate disposal.

Scream as you will, thrash as you may…

You will not escape the sound of loneliness,

Even in the wildest madness. For you shall always know

That sound.

The smell is sweet but it will evaporate as the time slides on;

The color is lovely but it will vanish as the years fly by.

But the sound of loneliness will never leave you;

No ocean, no lion, no ogre or dragon could drown it out.

It breathes as you do and it slices up the pieces of you for food.

I don’t remember a time before the sound set in.

It rises when you cannot and sinks you with its anchor.

The sound of loneliness is a force more powerful than

Life

Death

Itself.
